I just picked up this 109 SIIA pickup.

It was a very original and clean example, but did need some attn. The paint job was horrible. The box needed some repairs. The front fenders were pretty banged up, and the rear cross member needed straightened. The truck is completely rust free!!

I started with stripping of all the stuff that needed repairs. I striped off that horrible paint and got it down to where I can really see what all needs restoring and repairs. I have already straighted the rear cross member in this pic. As you can see the frame and bulkhead are both really nice!

The rear of the box side needed replaced. I can not get a replacement quarter panel so I will cut one off a 109 parts truck and stitch it in. Stay tuned in to see how I do it.

This is where I started with this 1960 Series II 88in wagon.

Good solid frame and bulkhead with some minor body damage. The transmission/transfer case was gone. The electrics were a mess. No brake or clutch pedals. The brake system was full of rust and contamination leaving it useless, as was the clutch slave cylinder.  It was missing both door tops. One of the front window panes was missing, as was one of the rear sliding windows. The door tops went missing at some time also. Still, a good solid truck to start with.

The left rear quarter panel that was pretty bad. I opted for a new one.

The old one was cut out so a new one can be installed.

I was having some trouble with the transmission jumping out of 3rd gear so I removed the transmission and made the proper repairs.

I was pretty close to having it all apart so I decided to go all the way. I stripped it the rest of the way down and coated the frame with a rust killer for the surface rust that was present. It has a layer of undercoating now to help prevent rust from being an issue in the future.

I coated the firewall also and then sealed it. I will re-assemble with all new parts. This will be a new Truck with some nice upgrades when it is all done!!
